Chairman’s Welcome

Thank you for taking the time to find out more about Auckland Hospital Radio. It’s hard to believe, but I’ve been involved in hospital radio for half of my life!
In that time the service has gone through several major changes and all for the better. Back in 2008 we celebrated 30 years of broadcasting to Bishop Auckland General Hospital and in that time the station has gone from strength to strength. I would like to thank our previous chairman Ray Oxley for his service to the committee over the past few years and he continues to be a mentor to both the membership and committee alike.
We are fairly unique in the hospital radio world. Today we broadcast two 24 hour channels and broadcast a live video feel to accompany the audio channel. A few years ago we forged a close relationship with Bay Trust Radio in kendal and out of that has developed a programme sharing network called Radio North Network. To find out more about our technology take a moment to read our website in more detail.
I was delighted to hand over the Station Manager’s job to Simon Temby who took over last year. He has had a great 1st year in post and I continue to wish him every success as he takes the station forward.
The 2010 committee have some extremely ambitious plans for the coming year, including large scale fundraisers, expansion plans and of course our big event – the 60 hour marathon.
A lot of hard work has gone into producing this website and even more work goes into maintaining what we consider to be a first class hospital broadcasting service. Please take some time to have a good look around and find out more about Auckland Hospital Radio.

Chairman
