Fundraising
Auckland Hospital Radio is a registered charity and receives no external or regular funding to provide it’s service. It costs thousands of pounds per year to maintain our free service, so as well as providing a 1st class radio service, all our volunteers need to participate in various fundraising events to raise money to keep the station on the air.
8Bag Packing
During the festive season our volunteers dress up in silly outfits and hit the checkouts in local supermarkets. We pack bags for local shoppers in return for small donations. Local people are usually extremely generous and over the past 10 years this has been our primary source of funding.

Grand Prize Draws
Every year we hold a Grand Prize Draw. With some excellent prizes up for grabs and only at £1 per book it’s a great way to raise money for the station. Our current prize draw will be drawn on Sunday 11th July at 11am. A full list of prizes and winners will be published on the website.

Charity Quiz Nights
Every year we hold at least one charity quiz night. In 2010 we hosted our 2nd Indian Quiz Night at the Spice Lounge in Bishop Auckland. For only £15 per head, members of public enjoyed a buffet style Indian meal and an entertaining quiz hosted by the Auckland Hospital Radio team. Our next event will be advertised on our website as soon as a date is set, but get your tickets early as the event is always a sell out.

Online Auctions
At certain times during the year we host a number of online auctions. We auction off signed celebrity memorabilia usually from well known TV and Movie stars. Our items vary from signed photos to full props used on TV shows. Check our news section for details of any current or upcoming auctions.
