Local lad, Miles Copeland, has reached Washington DC in his latest challenge to cycle across America, in aid of The Butterwick Hospice in Bishop Auckland.
Miles joined us at our Annual 60 Hour Marathon Broadcast to talk about his challenge to cycle the 3,500 miles. With nothing more than his trusty bicycle and a tent he hopes to raise more than 3,500 pound for palliative care within Bishop Auckland.
It hasn’t been an easy ride for the 24 year old. He contacted the hospice from Washington to update them on his progress:

Local lad, Miles Copeland, has reached Washington DC in his latest challenge to cycle across America, in aid of The Butterwick Hospice in Bishop Auckland.

Miles joined us at our Annual 60 Hour Marathon Broadcast to talk about his challenge to cycle the 3,500 miles. With nothing more than his trusty bicycle and a tent he hopes to raise more than 3,500 pound for palliative care within Bishop Auckland.

It hasn’t been an easy ride for the 24 year old. He contacted the hospice from Washington to update them on his progress:

“I have spent an extra day in Washington as I slightly buckeled my front wheel on the terrible roads they have here so had to get it repaired best I could”

But he is also enjoying his time in the states, seeing all the sights:

“I saw all the sights inPhiladelphia (America’s former capitol and most historic city- plus where Rocky movies filmed) and Washington (massive security and media round Whitehouse as David Cameron is visiting Obama today”

Miles hopes to keep Auckland Hospital Radio up to date with the challenge, and is due to leave the states in August to meet his wife, Donna, in China to take the overland journey back to Britain.

If you want to donate something to Mile’s challenge, you can give through his Just Giving Page at www.justgiving.com/milescopeland
